The digital mapping encompasses renowned sites such as the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Bibi Ka Maqbara, Daulatabad Fort, and the city’s iconic gates. This project is a collaborative effort between the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL). Utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, the initiative ensures accurate representation of each site’s location and significance.
An official from MTDC stated, “Our goal is to leverage technology to make Aurangabad’s rich heritage more accessible to tourists worldwide. Digital mapping not only aids in preservation but also enhances the visitor experience by providing comprehensive information at their fingertips.”
Tourists can access these digital resources through official tourism websites and mobile applications, which offer features such as augmented reality experiences, audio guides, and real-time navigation assistance.
